Safely crossing busy and high-speed roads are a concern for pedestrians, bicyclists and transit users. Additional pedestrian crossings in Washington County could improve safety and mobility, livability and access to transit and schools.
Four high-traffic roads have been identified as priorities: SW Walker Road, SW 170th Avenue, SW 185th Avenue and SW Baseline Road. Thanks to a Metro Regional Flexible Funds grant, Washington County was able to analyze 12 potential pedestrian crossing locations on these roads. The analysis considers both existing and future traffic conditions, pedestrian and bicycle use and nearby destinations.
